Non-urgent.  Too social.   Unprofessional.  These are some comments by people receiving ‘too casual’ emails.  So, consider using a more formal tone with: certain people (e.g. clients, very senior staff, a new boss) certain situations (e.g. companywide announce-ments, problems, apologies) To keep your message from sounding too casual, try: –  Removing slang, idioms, and abbreviations –  Replacing overly friendly phrases Yeah, no problem arranging this with more businesslike phrases Yes, I can arrange this –  Taking out humor Omitting friendly phrases or placing them at the bottom of messages (not at the top)
