Successful Global Email Series 17:
Keep subject lines short

How short? A maximum of four words! Impossible? No, not if you throw out four things: articles (a, the), prepositions (in, at, for, etc.), pronouns (your, our, etc.), and any unnecessary words. With this technique, you can easily transform a lengthy 8-word subject line (Subject: Your support on a new project is needed) into a 3-word subject line (Subject: Project Support Needed). OK, but why so short? Simply for greater impact. Most books, movies, songs, etc. limit their titles to 4 words or fewer—so try the same with your next piece of work: your email. Oh, and don’t forget to capitalize all of the words as in the sample above.
