Why? Because, you want to show the audience that you are now comfortably in control… even if you have the ‘shakes’. Anything from a casual greeting in a staff meeting presentation (e.g. ‘Okay, good morning everyone.’) to a more formal greeting to a large group of clients (e.g. ‘Good morning ladies and gentlemen.’) gets your presentation off to a good start. Note you may have to raise the tone of your voice above the level of the audience chatter. So, next time start with a more confident first impression: your greeting!
